Green Hill Artist Retreat is a destination retreat/ residency in support of artists that seek a restorative environment and time away from their hectic daily life. A place that offers a quiet, natural environment with comfortable lodging and home cooked meals. A place to stimulate new work or expand and nurture works in progress.
Green Hill Artist Retreat is located in southwest Vermont, (near Dorset). The property offers plenty of outdoor areas for reflection including a meditation gazebo, 3 outdoor decks and 10 acres of woods and walking trails. Hiking is available right outside the door but you will need a car to get to town. Internet is available in the main house but not is not available in the studios. Green Hill Artist Retreat is in a unique geographical location, nestled between the Green Mountains and upper Taconics. We are rural, yet in easy driving distance to major cultural venues including: MASS MOCA, The Clark Museum, Williamstown Theater (North Adams, Mass.) Dorset Theater Festival, Marlborough Music Festival, Weston Playhouse, Jacob's Pillow, Tanglewood, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and many more... Green Hill Artist Retreat is founded by composer, pianist Gary Schmidt and visual artist, choreographer, Erika Schmidt. They live in the main house, own and manage the property. Green Hill Artist Retreat is open to the general public for workshops, silent retreats and forums for small groups of artists that are working collaboratively and would enjoy the benefits of a rural setting as it applies to the creative process. |
